Food Bank Drive Time Again
Home & Garden
Thursday 28 October is the day for the annual city-wide food bank drive – a time to help support those who are finding life challenging. Organised by the Rotary Club of Wanganui North and supported by the Whanganui community, this is a great project. The food collected is for the City Mission’s food bank and is necessary for their ongoing work within Whanganui. The food drive is now in its 30th year and was an initiative of the Rotary Club of Wanganui South. When that Club folded in 2017, Wanganui North was asked to take over the project. Project Organiser, Terry Coxon, said that Wanganui North was delighted to be involved and it is a very rewarding community event. As well as Rotarians, over 100 students from Whanganui Schools help with the collecting and sorting of food, and there is also great support from other Rotary clubs and from residents of Whanganui who give freely of the time and vehicles to assist with the collection.
