Closure of MSD office for quick refit

The Ministry of Social Development’s Te Puke office will close temporarily next week while building improvements are underway. The office will close at 5pm on June 30 and it will take about three weeks to complete the work. “We’re upgrading our Te Puke service centre to help it work better for clients and staff,” says Mike Bryant, Bay of Plenty regional commissioner for social development. “We’ll have a more welcoming office, clients will have more privacy when they talk with a case manager and there will be added security for clients, visitors, and our people. “The changes have been tested and are already in some service centres, and we’ve had good feedback. “Our Taupo¯ refit was very well received. “Covid put upgrade plans on hold for a while so we’re excited it’s Te Puke’s turn.” Although the service centre will be temporarily closed, staff will be working from other locations and able to help online or by phone. Anyone who needs help can still get in touch with MSD by calling 0800 559 009 for Work and Income or 0800 552 002 for Senior Services. The office is scheduled to reopen at 9.30am on July 20.
