Coastal clean-up Maketu¯ Ongatoro Wetland Society and Coast Care BOP will hold a dune planting and rubbish clean-up on Saturday at Dotterel Point, Pukehina Beach, starting at 9am. Meet at Pukehina Rescue carpark. Take gumboots or covered shoes. Gloves and spades are provided and there will be light refreshments afterwards. Workshops Maketu¯ author Angie Belcher will host a series of writing workshops for the women of Maketu¯ in September. Roading progress Work to stabilise the riverbank opposite Tuhourangi marae on the Te Puke Highway has been completed, with normal traffic to resume. Eagles Nest gone The Eagles Nest climbing structure at Jubilee Park in Te Puke has been temporarily removed as parts of the net are wearing out and could become a safety risk. Western Bay of Plenty District Council said a new net could take some time to arrive due to global supply chain delays.
