Forest workday


O¯ tanewainuku Kiwi Trust plans a forest workday on Sunday. Meet at the O¯ tanewainuku shelter, Mountain Rd, at 8.45am for a safety briefing. The proposed work includes bait line maintenance and bait station upgrades, plus small teams will be carrying DOC 200 stoat traps into the bush as part of the stoat trap line upgrade. Sturdy walking shoes or boots will be required, as well as warm gear, raincoat, drink, and snacks if going out in the bush. Local Lotto win A second-division winning Lotto ticket was sold at Te Puke New World last Wednesday. The ticket holder won $29,626 and was one of eight seconddivision winning tickets. Garden gala Te Puke Community Garden is holding a mid-year gala on June 19. At 10.30am a mushroomgrowing demonstration is planned. There will also be a rock painting area for kids and adults, seedlings for sale and a silent auction for a range of products including home preserves, a mushroomgrowing kit and pictures. The event runs from 10am to 2pm. Correction Two Te Puke High School students who featured in a photograph in last week’s Te Puke Times were incorrectly identified. The students in the photograph were Savanna Booth and Connor Theobold. This was a result of incorrect information being provided.
