Deputy Chief Fire Chief Jim Cooper

There were six callouts this past week for the Katikati Volunteer Fire Brigade. The first last Monday evening was to a car that took out a power pole just north of the Kauri Point turnoff. The second call was to assist the St John on a medical incident last Tuesday morning. Later on Tuesday there was a callout to a backyard fire on Morton Rd, no action was taken by the brigade. On Thursday evening there was a callout to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Omokoroa Rd. On Friday there were two callouts, the first to a cat down a hole then a call to Prospect Dr to a large controlled fire, but again no action was required by the brigade. — subject of a burglary, three offenders used a stolen car to gain access. Cigarettes were targeted, but good store security meant none were stolen. The vehicle was stolen from Waihi and our security cameras show it returning that way.
