Irish charm and foot-tapping music

Covid restrictions mean acts scheduled for Kauaeranga Hall are unable to travel to perform — but thankfully, there’s local talent. “I had to cancel three events last year and two so far this year,” says Peter Revell. “So we’re going local with headline act Sean Kelly & The Super 8s.” Sean Kelly, a local icon, is debuting his latest creative masterpiece by presenting an audio visual concert of live Irish music played to a backdrop of old Super 8 movies that his father took. These classic clips are taken in and around Derry and Donegal in Ireland between 1958 to 1988. The videos include footage of Sean’s family, his parents’ wedding in 1960, the first videos from the 1960s of Sean and his five siblings, Irish landscapes, urban and rural, schoollife in Derry, and videos of the army on the streets of Derry during “The Troubles”. This live music will carry you back to a place and a time long past with songs and stories that will make you laugh and at times be brought to tears in a concert for young and old. And in a first for Kauaeranga Music, local band The Dirty Firth will be the supporting act, playing a mixture of their own music and wellknown foot-tapping favourites. https:/ / v=evajh-u2bwo
